With more than 30 years of leadership and service in the nonprofit sector, Kae Rader is a dynamic facilitator and results-oriented consultant. As a facilitator, she specializes in strategic planning, problem solving and program improvement. As a consultant, she provides guidance and training in the areas of: nonprofit management; board best practices; community initiatives; human resources; and grant making. Kae holds a certificate in the practice of Appreciative Inquiry from the Corporation for Positive Change (CPC). CPC is the premier consulting firm using Appreciative Inquiry for transformation and innovation in business, government, and nonprofit organizations around the world. Appreciative Inquiry is a strength-based approach to strategic planning and organizational change. Kae is a one of a select few from around the world who is licensed to facilitate CPC’s Appreciative Leadership Development Program. She is a member of the Institute of Management Consultants.
Throughout her career Kae has provided guidance to leadership teams in a wide variety of organizations. She has held senior management positions with the U.S. Olympic Committee, USA Table Tennis, Indiana Sports Corporation, Indianapolis Mayor’s office and, most recently, with El Pomar Foundation-one of the largest private foundations in the Rocky Mountain west. She has effectively dealt with multiple challenges in financial, human resources and marketing arenas. Specifically:
- For the U.S. Olympic Committee, Kae developed and directed a strategic planning program for Olympic and Pan American sport national governing bodies. She was responsible for managing programs that awarded $30 million annually in grants, and she partnered with the CEO in developing the USOC’s first-ever operating plan with measurable objectives.
- As Executive Director of USA Table Tennis, Kae implemented new fiscal policies that resulted in a financial turnaround, from a six-figure fund balance deficit to a sound financial position. At El Pomar, she revamped the hiring process for a post-collegiate fellowship program that is used each year to screen and interview 100+ candidates. At the Indiana Sports Corporation, she planned and implemented innovative special event marketing and member-development programs.
- Kae gained insight into community development by serving as a senior community relations staff member for four-term Indianapolis Mayor Bill Hudnut. She acquired market research fundamentals while working at Walker Information, a multi-million dollar consulting firm.
In addition, Kae has served on various volunteer boards. Most recently, she was re-appointed by Colorado Governor Bill Ritter to serve on the Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO) Board. She is GOCO Board Secretary and Local Government Committee Chair. Kae and her colleagues award some $50 million annually in grants to preserve, protect or enhance wildlife habitat, parks, rivers, trails and open space. She is also a member of the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency’s Administrative Review Panel.
Kae holds a Master’s in Public Administration and a Graduate Certificate in Nonprofit Management from the University of Colorado. She holds a Bachelor’s in Communications from Purdue University, and is a graduate of the Colorado Springs Leadership Institute, Leadership Pikes Peak and the Stanley K. Lacy Executive Leadership Program. She has gained additional competencies in strategic planning, facilitation, and employment law by attending seminars at Wharton College, the Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University, the Institute for Applied Management & Law, and the Leadership Strategies Institute.
